What to Look for in Wrapping Paper

Gift wrapping paper is the outside of a gift or a parcel, so it is the first thing a customer sees. A few choices change how it looks and how easily it wraps.

  • Sheet size. The sheet must wrap your largest item with enough paper to overlap and fold at the ends. Measure the item, then add room on every side.
  • Sheet or roll. Sheets suit shops that wrap a few items by hand, and a roll suits a counter that wraps all day. Tell us which you need and we confirm what is possible.
  • Weight and feel. Light paper folds easily and heavier paper holds a crisp edge. Ask what is possible for your use and request a sample.
  • Pattern or logo. An all-over repeat pattern, a small logo in rows or a solid color each give a different look. A repeat pattern hides folds and a single big logo can end up cut or hidden.
  • One side or both. Printing the outside is the usual choice. If you want the back to carry a color or a pattern too, tell us and we confirm what is possible.
  • What goes inside. Say what you wrap: soft goods, boxes, bottles or food. Sharp corners need a stronger paper than a soft garment does.

Where Wrapping Paper Is Used

  • Gift and boutique shops wrapping purchases at the counter.
  • Florists, bakeries and candy shops wrapping bouquets, boxes and treats.
  • Online brands wrapping each order before it goes in a mailer or box.
  • Event and holiday sellers with seasonal patterns that change each year.

Artwork and Printing Tips for Wrapping Paper

  • Choose a repeat pattern that still looks good when the sheet is folded, crumpled and cut at an angle. Small, evenly spaced marks forgive a rough wrap.
  • If you use a single logo, repeat it in rows so it shows on every side of the parcel. One logo in the middle can be folded out of sight.
  • Keep the design to one or two colors if you want it to look crisp on a sheet that gets creased.
  • Match the paper to your box and tape. A kraft-colored sheet and a white sheet carry the same ink in different ways, so view a sample.
  • Tell us your brand colors as Pantone or CMYK values, and we confirm how they are matched on paper.

Planning Your Order

Wrap your real product in a test sheet and measure the paper you used. Think about how many parcels you wrap a week, and where you can store the paper flat or on a roll, dry and away from sun.

Ask for a sample to see the feel of the paper and the print. Our Standard Sample Kit costs $50 with shipping included, and the Samples page lists the other types. For a softer inner layer, see our tissue paper, and for shipping boxes see packing paper. Pricing and minimums come with your quote.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I order custom wrapping paper?

Send your size, quantity, delivery location and artwork with a quote request. We prepare pricing based on the size, material, printing, finishing and quantity, and reply within 1 business day. After you approve the layout and artwork, the order goes into production.

How much does custom wrapping paper cost?

Pricing depends on the size, quantity, material, printing and finishes. Request a quote and we will prepare pricing for your project.

How long does it take to get custom wrapping paper?

Timing depends on the product, the size and the quantity, and it is confirmed with your quote. Production starts once your artwork is approved and payment is received. Delivery usually takes another 4–5 working days, depending on the carrier and your location, so a typical order arrives in about 2 weeks and larger orders take longer. See the turnaround guide.

What is the difference between wrapping paper and tissue paper?

Wrapping paper is the outer wrap of a gift or parcel, and tissue paper is a thin inner layer that sits inside the box or bag. Many brands use both. See our tissue paper page for the inner layer.

What size gift wrapping paper should I order?

Wrap your largest item in a test sheet and measure it. The sheet must cover the item and overlap at the back and ends. Send the size and we confirm what works.

Can I get wrapping paper on a roll?

Tell us whether you want sheets or a roll, along with the width and length you need, and we confirm what is possible.

Can wrapping paper be printed with my logo or pattern?

Yes. Send your artwork or tell us you need design help. We prepare a proof for your approval, and our free design support is included with your quote.

Can I see the design before it is printed?

Yes. We send a proof for your approval before printing, so you can check the pattern, the colors and how the logo repeats.
