Materials, Printing and Finishes

Boxes can be made from kraft, cardboard or rigid board. Paperboard comes in thicknesses from 300 to 400 gsm depending on size. White SBS paperboard gives high-quality print, and unbleached brown kraft suits black or white printing and a natural look.

Print in CMYK or Pantone, then protect the print with a water-based varnish or lamination, finished matte, glossy, satin or soft touch. Add embossing, foil stamping or UV printing, custom shapes, die cuts, window cuts or custom inserts.

Tell us whether your bars are wrapped or unwrapped, and if they contain oils, when you request a quote, so we can suggest the right board and coating.

Which box style suits handmade soap?

A packaging sleeve is a minimal, low-material choice for single bars. Tuck end boxes suit retail and storage, pillow boxes suit gifts, and two-piece or rigid drawer boxes suit premium collections. Browse the soap box styles above, or tell us what you make and we will recommend one.

How do I size a box for a bar of soap?

Measure the bar at its length, width and thickness, in that order, as it will sit in the box, and include any wrapping. Our measuring guide shows which side is which, and a structural sample lets you test the fit.

Can I add a window to show the soap?

Yes. Window cuts are available on custom boxes, so customers can see the color or texture of the bar. Tell us the size and position and we will show it on the dieline for you to approve.

Can I print ingredients and scent names?

You can print any text and artwork you supply on the box, or use stickers and labels for ingredients, scents and batch details that change. Soap labeling rules differ by country and state, so check the requirements for your area.

Do you offer recycled stock for soap packaging?
