What makes packaging more eco-friendly

Start with paper-based materials. Kraft paper, paperboard and corrugated board are paper-based. Paper and cardboard are among the materials most often collected for recycling, although what is accepted depends on your local program.

Ask for recycled stock. Recycled stock options are available on request for our paper bags, mailer boxes and box inserts. Say so when you ask for a quote and we confirm what is possible for your size and quantity.

Right-size the box. A box that fits the product uses less board and needs less filler. The measuring guide and the free dieline templates help you get the size right before you order.

Keep finishes simple. Some coatings and laminations can make paper packaging harder to recycle. Tell us your goal and we confirm which finishes suit it.

Check any claim before you print it. If you want to print a claim such as recyclable on your pack, check the rules where you sell. What appears on your pack is your responsibility as the brand.

Which eco-friendly packaging should I choose?

Start with what the pack has to do.

  • Shipping to customers who order online

Mailer boxes are corrugated, with brown kraft available. Paper mailing bags and paper envelopes are paper options for shipping.

  • A box for the retail shelf

Tuck boxes are made from paperboard in white or brown kraft and ship flat. A pillow box closes without tape or adhesive in many cases.

  • A bag to carry the purchase

Paper bags are printed in white or brown kraft in your size and handle style, with recycled stock options on request.

  • Protection inside the box

Molded pulp inserts are made from recycled paper fibers. Cardboard inserts and dividers keep items in place, and void fill fills the gaps.

  • Wrapping the product

Tissue paper and packing paper wrap the product before it goes in the box. Tell us the size and quantity and we confirm what is possible.

  • A premium, high-end product

Rigid boxes use heavy board wrapped in printed paper. Ask about recycled stock options for your project.

Planning eco-friendly packaging?

Tell us what you sell, how it will ship or be displayed and what you want it to achieve, and we will recommend materials. You can also order a Standard Sample Kit ($50, shipping included) to see and feel packaging samples first. Rigid boxes, and boxes that ship assembled, may not be in the kit: ask us about rigid samples.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is eco-friendly packaging?

There is no single definition. Packaging is usually called eco-friendly when it uses fewer resources and creates less waste, for example by using paper-based or recycled materials, fitting the product closely and keeping finishes simple. We make paper-based boxes, mailers, bags and inserts, and recycled stock options are available on request.

Which eco-friendly options do you offer?

Our paperboard boxes come in white or brown kraft, our mailer boxes are corrugated with brown kraft available, and our paper bags come in white or brown kraft. Molded pulp inserts are made from recycled paper fibers. We also make paper mailing bags, paper envelopes, packing paper and tissue paper. Recycled stock options are available on request for paper bags, mailer boxes and box inserts.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Paper and cardboard are among the materials most often collected for recycling, but what is accepted depends on your local program, and some coatings, laminations and foils can make paper harder to recycle. Tell us your goal and we confirm which materials and finishes suit it. We do not assume a recycling claim for your pack: check the rules where you sell.

Do you provide eco-certifications?

Tell us which certification you need, for example FSC, when you request a quote, and we confirm whether it is available for your project. We do not promise a certification until we confirm it with you.

What are the minimum order quantities and prices?

The minimum depends on the product: 50 units for shipping boxes, rigid boxes and cardboard tubes, 100 units for most other boxes, inserts, dividers and sleeves, and 500 units for paper bags, poly mailers, stickers and labels, cards and hang tags. Each page shows a starting price per unit, and the final price depends on the size, quantity, material, printing and finishes. Quotes include shipping.

Can I order a sample before a full order?

Yes. The Standard Sample Kit holds different packaging samples, mostly chosen to match your niche or packaging type, so you can see the materials, printing details and construction up close. You can also order a structural sample, an unprinted prototype that shows the size and form of your box. The kit may not include rigid boxes or boxes that ship assembled: ask us about rigid samples. See the samples page for every sample type.

Do you help design eco-friendly packaging?

Yes. We offer free design support, and we can help with a new design or refine an existing one. You can also download a free dieline template for your box style and size to plan your artwork.

How long does it take to get my packaging?

Production usually takes 5–7 working days, and 16–21 working days for larger orders. It starts once your artwork is approved and payment is received. Delivery usually takes another 4–5 working days, depending on the carrier and your location, so a typical order arrives in about 2 weeks and larger orders take longer. See the turnaround guide.
