What to Look for in Flat Pouches

A flat pouch is the simplest pouch, a sealed pocket with no base, so it suits thin and light products.

  • Product thickness. A flat pouch bulges when filled. Measure the product at its thickest, and tell us if it is rigid or soft.
  • Seal. A heat seal, a zip or a tear notch each fit a different use. Decide how it is filled and opened.
  • Barrier. Sachets and samples often need protection from air and moisture. Tell us the product, and we confirm what is possible.
  • Size. Measure the product, and add a margin for the seals on each side.
  • Display. Flat pouches hang on a peg or lie in a box. A hang hole is often added.

Where Flat Pouches Are Used

  • Cosmetic brands with sachet samples and masks.
  • Tea, spice and seasoning sellers with single-serve packs.
  • Supplement and powder brands with sample sachets.
  • Craft and hardware sellers with small flat parts.

Artwork and Printing Tips for Flat Pouches

  • A flat pouch has two panels and a seal at the edge. Keep text and logo clear of the seals.
  • Put the logo on the front panel in the middle. A flat pouch is often seen lying on a table or hanging on a peg.
  • Use a bold design. Small pouches are seen briefly, so a short message works best.
  • Add space for a barcode or a batch code, away from the seal.
  • Tell us your colors as Pantone or CMYK values, and ask for a proof.

Planning Your Order

Measure the product at its thickest, and decide how it will be filled and sealed. Think about how many pouches you need for a sample run and a main run, and where the empty pouches are stored.

Test a sample with your product. For $50, shipping included, the Standard Sample Kit is the simplest way to start, and more sample types are on the Samples page. Pricing and minimums are confirmed in your quote.
