When to Choose Cube Boxes

A cube box has six equal square faces, and it is the simplest shape in the shaped range. It is built much like a tuck end box, so it is usually the most economical of the unusual shapes. A cube also uses space efficiently: cubes stack and pack into outer cartons with no gaps, and the same artwork can repeat on every face.

Choose a cube for round or compact products, such as bath bombs, ornaments, candles and small gifts. Choose a hexagonal or octagonal box when you want a more decorative shape. Choose a rectangular box when the product is long. Choose a cube over a round box when you want flat panels, easier stacking and simpler artwork. If the product is tall and slim, a cube will leave a lot of empty space.

What to Look for in Cube Boxes

  • One size. All edges are equal, so the product has to fit in its longest direction. A tall item makes a very large cube.
  • Empty space. Round products leave air in the corners. Ask about tissue, an insert or a filler.
  • Closure. Tuck tops are common, and other closures are possible. Tell us how the box should open.
  • Window. A cube with a window shows the product. Ask what is possible.
  • Stacking. Cubes pack well, so you can often ship more per carton.

Where Cube Boxes Are Used

  • Bath bombs and soaps. Compact, round products.
  • Ornaments and decorations. Keepsakes and seasonal items.
  • Candles and wax melts. Small round candles.
  • Small gifts and favors. Products that look good in a neat cube.
  • Cosmetic products. Jars and compacts.

Artwork and Printing Tips

  • Repeat one pattern on all six faces, so the cube looks right whichever way up it sits.
  • Or give the front face the logo and the rest a pattern. A cube is seen from several angles.
  • Keep text large and simple on faces that are small.
  • Use a window or a die cut to show the product. Ask what is possible.
  • Use our free cube box dieline template to plan the sizes and the artwork. The final dieline is confirmed with you.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are cube boxes?

A cube box has six equal square faces. Cubes suit round or compact products such as bath bombs.

How do I order custom cube boxes?

Send your size, quantity, delivery location and artwork with a quote request. We prepare pricing based on the size, material, printing, finishing and quantity, and reply within 1 business day. After you approve the layout and artwork, the order goes into production.

How much do custom cube boxes cost?

Pricing starts from $0.50 per unit, and prices and quotes include shipping. Your price depends on quantity, size, material, printing and finishes, and falls as quantity grows. Request a quote for your project.

How long does it take to get custom cube boxes?

Timing depends on the product, the size and the quantity, and it is confirmed with your quote. Production starts once your artwork is approved and payment is received. Delivery usually takes another 4–5 working days, depending on the carrier and your location, so a typical order arrives in about 2 weeks and larger orders take longer. See the turnaround guide.

What size cube box do I need for a round product?

A cube has equal sides, so the product has to fit in its widest direction. For a round product, the diameter or the height, whichever is larger, sets the size. Send the dimensions and we confirm the size.

Is a cube box cheaper than other shaped boxes?

A cube is simple to build, so it usually costs less than a hexagonal or a pyramid box. The price depends on the size, quantity, material, printing and finishes, and the final price comes with your quote.

Can a cube box have a window?

Tell us the window you want, and we confirm what is possible with your quote. A window shows the product, but it changes the artwork area.
