When to Choose Hexagonal Boxes
A hexagon has six equal sides, and that single fact drives most of the decisions. It wraps round and roughly round products with less dead space than a square box does, and it looks distinctive on a shelf, where a row of squares blends in. It also tiles: hexagonal packs sit side by side in a honeycomb layout, which makes a striking display. The price of the shape is more folds and glue joints than a plain box, so it sits above a standard rectangular carton on the cost scale.
Choose a hexagonal box over a cube or a rectangular box when the product is round, such as a jar, a tin, a candle or a bath bomb, and you want the box to look designed around it. Choose it over an octagonal box when you want a bolder, more graphic shape with fewer, wider faces. Choose a round box instead when you want a single continuous print around the wall. Ask about packing in outer cartons, because a honeycomb does not fill a rectangular carton.
What to Look for in Hexagonal Boxes
- Two measurements. A hexagon has a width across the flat sides and a longer width across the corners. Tell us which one your product has to clear, and we check both.
- Panel width. Six panels around a given width are narrower than four. Check that your logo and text fit on one face, or plan to wrap them across two.
- Fit of round products. The corners leave small gaps around a round product. Ask about an insert or a wrap if it must not move.
- Closing style. Decide whether the box opens at one end or has a lid, and how the closure is held. Tell us and we confirm what is possible.
- Outer cartons. Hexagonal boxes do not stack flush in a rectangular carton. Plan the shipping carton size with us.
Where Hexagonal Boxes Are Used
- Candles and wax melts. A six-sided pack suits a round jar.
- Tea and honey gifts. Small jars and tins in a gift pack.
- Bath bombs and soaps. A geometric shape suits handmade goods.
- Cosmetic jars and sets. Premium products that benefit from a distinctive shape.
- Wedding and event favors. A shape guests remember.
Artwork and Printing Tips
- Use a repeating pattern around all six faces. A pattern hides the six seams and looks like one object.
- Put the logo on one face, with a short line on the faces next to it, so it reads at a glance when the box is turned.
- Plan the lid separately if the box has one. Six sides give a lid with a clear star-like shape.
- Ask about foil stamping, embossing or spot UV on the lid. Flat faces take them well.
- Use our free hexagonal box dieline template to plan the sizes and the artwork. The final dieline is confirmed with you.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are hexagonal boxes?
A hexagonal box has six sides, which gives a product a geometric look that stands apart from the usual square pack.
How do I order custom hexagonal boxes?
Send your size, quantity, delivery location and artwork with a quote request. We prepare pricing based on the size, material, printing, finishing and quantity, and reply within 1 business day. After you approve the layout and artwork, the order goes into production.
How much do custom hexagonal boxes cost?
Pricing starts from $0.50 per unit, and prices and quotes include shipping. Your price depends on quantity, size, material, printing and finishes, and falls as quantity grows. Request a quote for your project.
How long does it take to get custom hexagonal boxes?
Timing depends on the product, the size and the quantity, and it is confirmed with your quote. Production starts once your artwork is approved and payment is received. Delivery usually takes another 4–5 working days, depending on the carrier and your location, so a typical order arrives in about 2 weeks and larger orders take longer. See the turnaround guide.
Which sizes do I need to give for a hexagonal box?
Tell us the width of the product across the flats and across the corners, as well as its height. A hexagon is wider across the corners than across the flats, and both measurements decide whether the product fits.
Are hexagonal boxes good for round products?
A hexagon leaves less empty space around a round product than a square box does, so jars, tins and candles sit well. The corners still leave small gaps, so tell us if the product must not move and we confirm the insert options.
Can hexagonal boxes be shipped in standard cartons?
Hexagonal boxes do not fill a rectangular carton, so some space is left at the edges. Tell us the quantity per carton and how you ship, and we advise on the carton and any filling.
